Famco crowns break down into three product families, and getting the right match matters because the bolt patterns and flue cutouts are not interchangeable.

• Famco F-Series (F-8 through F-14): The stamped model number sits on the underside lip, visible from the firebox looking up. These use a four-bolt mounting pattern with 5.5-inch centers. We carry both OEM Famco replacements and Gelco aftermarket equivalents that fit the same pattern. The Gelco units run about $40 less and carry the same 10-year warranty.
• Famco Pro-Line (Pro-12, Pro-16, Pro-20): Heavier-gauge steel, six-bolt pattern, and a welded drip edge that the F-Series lacks. The Pro-Line stamp is on the top surface, often rusted over. If you can’t read it, measure bolt-center to bolt-center: 7.25 inches means Pro-Line. We stock the Pro-16 on the truck; the 20-inch version gets pulled from our Haven buying network by next business day.
• Famco Universal Fit (discontinued 2018): These had slotted mounting holes meant to cover multiple bolt patterns. Here’s what you can safely check yourself: confirm the model stamp, measure bolt centers with a tape measure, and look for daylight around the flue collar from inside the firebox. Do not climb the roof to inspect the crown top. Chimney crowns sit at height on often-rotted flashing, and Wilmington’s clay tile roofs are unforgiving.

Where DIY goes wrong: the bolts are often seized with rust and require an impact driver with chimney-specific extractors. The flue collar needs resealed with high-temp silicone rated to 600°F, not hardware-store caulk.
